AirSep helped shape the development of modern oxygen concentrators by combining air-separation technology with equipment designed for home and portable oxygen therapy. Established in Buffalo, New York, in 1987, the company developed its first stationary oxygen concentrator that same year and later introduced several important advancements in portable oxygen delivery. Today, AirSep’s oxygen therapy legacy continues as part of CAIRE, a global manufacturer of respiratory care equipment.

AirSep introduced the LifeStyle portable oxygen concentrator in 2002, followed by the FreeStyle series of compact pulse-dose oxygen concentrators. The brand’s innovations include sensitive breath-detection technology, portable oxygen equipment approved for commercial air travel, and lightweight designs intended to make prescribed oxygen therapy more convenient outside the home.
